Serum provides antioxidant protection from aging caused by free-radical induced damage. It is formulated with a synergistic mixture containing 25% L-ascorbic acid salts (natural vitamin C), ferulic acid, DL-alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), and botanical hyaluronic acid. The serum is buffered to pH 5.5 the Ideal pH for facial skin.

The main function of this serum is to provide protection from free-radical induced cell damage. The serum also improves the skin's overall appearance, mildly brightens skin, reduces signs of sun damage and aging. This  Serum has a pH of 4.5 because, it is the optimal pH Kojic Acid. 

At pH 5.5 L-ascorbic acid is a strong antioxidant and is rapidly oxidized by its chemical activity significantly impacting the shelf-life of premixed serums. We have packaged the L ascorbic acid and other perishable ingredients separately. The serum activation process is as simple as adding sugar to coffee. The at home activation process ensures the maximum potency and freshness of our product.

Most ready off the shelf vitamin C serums either have a pH lower than 3.5 or use a synthetic derivative of ascorbic acid that improves shelf-life. The synthetic forms of vitamin C have a longer shelf-life but they are poor antioxidants compared to ascorbic acid. When in biological environments the synthetic forms of vitamin C do not function as vitamin C because their chemical structures do not transform into L-ascorbic acid salts. L-ascorbic acid is the most effective form of vitamin C.

In terms of basic chemistry the pKa of L-ascorbic acid is 4.1. The antioxidant power of L-ascorbic acid at pH 5.5 is about 99% more active than L-ascorbic acid at pH 3.5 [1]. 

"pH has a huge impact on your skin’s barrier function, moisture retention, and microorganism environment. If your skins pH is too alkaline, nine and above, the lipid layer of skin can be compromised, resulting in dryness and irritation. Keeping pH at its ideal level also prevents overgrowth of acne-causing bacteria, propionibacterium acne. The pH of oily skin tends to range from 4 to 5.2, while the pH of dry skin is typically above 5.5," says Onyeka Obioha, M.D., a dermatologist in Los Angeles. [2]

"Some signs that skin's pH is out of balance can include acne, dryness, and conditions like psoriasis," says Mehmet Oz, M.D., a medical expert. [2]

“Alkaline skin symptoms include dryness and accelerated aging, like an increase in fine lines and wrinkles. If you have a decrease in pH and it becomes more acidic, skin can become inflamed,” says Dr. Obioha. [2]

How To Use

FIRST:
Simply pour all of the powder in the powder pouch into the serum bottle, shake well and wait about 10 minutes for all of the powder to dissolve and enjoy.

BEFROE USE:

APPLYING SERUM:
Before each use shake bottle and squeeze dropper bulb a few times to ensure product is properly mixed. Wash and pat skin dry. Apply thin serum layer to entire face and neckline. Allow a few minutes to dry. If white powder is visible on your skin after applying the serum then you are applying too much and need to spread it out more. Should Know

SERUM COLOR:
As the vitamin C in your serum oxidizes the serum will change to a more amber color. The serum will still be potent after more than 3 months provided it is properly stored at a temperature of 80° F (27° C) or less. Even if the color changes the serum is still safe to continue to use, however, the potency of the serum  maybe be diminished.
